Rave at the Arcade

July 2026

Got back from Niagara late Sunday and went straight into a head-down week. Nothing dramatic, just work, and keeping pace with it. The kind of week where the interesting stuff all happens around the edges, at the house.

The pool's almost there. It's at that in-between stage where it's not green but it's not clear either. We're just waiting on the last of the cloudiness to drop out. Neither of us has ever opened a pool before, so we ended up at the back of every queue in town. Learning it as we go lol

We did break down and get a pool robot, though. Best forty minutes of delegation I've done all year.

Took Wednesday off. I didn't sit around watching the robot do its thing. Spent the day with my girlfriend instead, resting and planning. The backyard's getting there, too. Still a lot of gardening to do, but the light in the evenings is divine.

And I got a little prep in for the weekend. Nothing heavy, just time on the decks at home, feeling out where a summer night wants to go. This is most of the work, honestly. Long before the gig, it's just you and the setup in a quiet room.

Home DJ setup: controller, monitor, and a MIDI keyboard

My girlfriend took this one on the drive home earlier in the week. Whole sky went gold for about ten minutes. I keep chasing that feeling in a set, the part where it opens up and the light comes back through the clouds.

Which brings me to tomorrow night. I'm playing the July 4th party at the Happy Valley Arcade Bar up in Beacon. It's called Rave at the Arcade, and I'm on with Ethical Drift, who's bringing real heat. It's gonna be an all-day prep kind of day. Hot-summer tunes, and by the feel of it a proper night of house music.

For the record
